I find the use of using pain given by the winner to the loser, in order to prove ‘video games make you violent’ to be fairly suspect. I wasn’t wrong in what to expect either, they tried to find some positives towards the end but I, just like the GC team and the majority of Inbox contributors, have been gaming a lot longer than those psychologists have been running their experiments. I don’t have much of an ear for music in general (that’s why I listen to rap, ha ha) but from reading contributions about classical soundtracks and original compositions for many games, I get the feeling that video game music is generally excellent. Like I can hear that the people that compiled the hip hop music were really, genuinely fans. Knockout Kings, any skating game, Matt Hoffmann BMX, and all GTA games until (but not including) GTA V all had quality rap music selections. It is a genre that has been quite well represented in video games during that period. I have a love for rap, hip hop, and most of its incarnations from the early 90s till 2007. Highlights over the years have been Johnny Cash (Tony Hawk’s Underground), Queens of The Stone Age (Need For Speed Underground) Stone Roses and Citizen Kane (Street Skater), and loads of country & western and reggae (Grand Theft Autos).

It will be interesting to see what they have. I’m going to EGX next week and it looks like Sony have a big presence there too, I have yet to hear much noise about Microsoft’s presence yet. They have also secured Call Of Duty, which has hiked in more exposure. Sony’s affiliation with certain third party games (Destiny and Batman for example) also keeps them in the forefront of people’s minds. I remember seeing a survey which suggested that the game’s graphics were ranked quite highly on a gamer’s priorities!

You mentioned that getting ahead early can have a knock-on effect with friends copying their friends’ choices to play online, getting something cheaper is an easy way to get some sales.
